A quiet Sunday Spent at Chakrata
This sunday I decided to stay back to enjoy a quiet sunday and the fine weather of Chakrata...My day was started late got up at 8.30 prepared a cup of tea for myself for a change as for past few months I was having only coffee....After taking a cold water bath came out of my room for a breakfast....But the market was closed today and I was informed that there is a Bhandara in nearby temple so market would be closed for the day...and I may too go to Bhandara...But thought otherwise as most of such occassions I found already well fed ppl feed each other and then leave the place dirty with thermocol plates and cups all around.I dropped the idea and still decided to look for any open shop and there was one I found open at the end of the market. I helped myself with 02 Aloo Parathas with Chole and not quite good Curd. It was now the turn to look for tea. At this place I tried several shops for tea but all are trained to prepare the tea with liberal quantity of sugar.....I then tried something new, asking for फीकी चाय then I got the tea with required amount of sugar....After tea, I bought a news paper and looked foe thw right place to sit. Finally I decided for the place where they erected the statue of the great leader of Jaunsar, Shri Gulab Singh ji....It was sunday so tourists were also arriving at Chakrata in their cars. .On arriving here their first reaction was of grt surprise seeing the weather which became more cold because of little bit of rain. Second surprise was the closed market that too on the day like sunday. I dutifully informed many of them the reason of closure. After finishing the news paper twice still there was the time left for my daily evening walk. So I decided to spend more time sitting here and watching the ppl moving here and there. Two tourists also came and sit at next bench. One of them asked me the way to Chilmiri view point, the gentlemen were from Haryana...After finishing their cigrette they too left the place. There was a sudden commotion by few monkies they were trying to snatch the leftovers from a pariah dog. but dog was determined not to part with his hardearned booty. So after a useless monkies decided to try their luck elsewhere. I was joined at my place by two small school going girls who were chatting abt the various urgent matters and looked so happy. Then came a drunken person and in his inebriated state started to curse the ppl responsible for organising Bhandara at the temple, I dont know why he was unhappy with this arrangement..as the liquor shop was still kept opened so not to put tourists at much more shock....Its 4.00 PM now time to look for any opened shop for evening tea. Pl excuse me readers...tTea was again a syrpy affair. by now the shops were began to be opened as the market began to be crowded. I was joined few young felloWS who also appeared to be returned frim the bhandara. Chakrata is not a tourist friendly place as the economy of this place has nothing to do with tourism but the presence of an Army garrison keep the market running plus the villagers who also make it a point to visit this town as it is the headquarters of Tehsil, Block and well our Offices too.
